The STS Group is a stock listed, globally leading supplier of components and systems for the commercial vehicle and automotive industries headquartered in France. The Adler Pelzer Group, a global Tier 1 supplies recently acquired STS group to expand its target market. STS is pioneering operations of Class A surface components for the heavy trucks in the USA. We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer for the bonding process in the opening of the brand new STS facility near Salem, Virginia in the Roanoke, VA area.

The Process Engineer – Bonding will work closely with a launch team from our France, Mexico and Michigan locations to assure a successful process in the manufacturing of class A surfaces for heavy trucks. The person in this role will have previous SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) specifically the bonding process that is part of the manufacturing for the sleeper roof part on heavy trucks.

The Process Engineer will be based out of the Virginia facility. This role will require some initial travel for pre-launch activities. Relocation to Virginia is available.

Responsibilities of the Process Engineer:
-
Follow the installation and setting of bonding equipment and peripherals in the newly STS Salem plant to get full equipment knowledge

Welcome, train and support new operators while making good quality products

Ensure daily the proper functioning of the bonding equipment (2 bonders, adhesive dispenser, drilling station, paint repair section) and the proper use of this by the operators

Analyze defects & problems (quality, safety, environment, OEE inefficiencies) and propose action plan with possible solutions to manager

Provide feedback through lessons learned and participates in machinery / equipment / product continuous improvement activities.
Note: This section is not inclusive. Other duties as assigned as necessary to support team goals.

Ideal Candidate Profile for the Process Engineer - Bonding:
-
Professional experience of 5 years min. in the Engineering area within Automotive Supplier industry or similar.

Able to understand in detail functioning of the bonding equipment (2 bonders, adhesive dispenser) and surrounding areas (drilling station and paint repair station)

Experience and knowledge with plastics, polymers, paint, class A / exterior surfaces

Experience and knowledge of thermoset or thermoplastic is a plus

Problem solver and solutions provider with a capacity for innovation - Outside the box thinker

Well organized, reliable & participate in other workshop when required

Clearly report problems, failures while providing possible solutions

Adaptable to a new environment (new plant, new people, new processes)

Engineering degree or equivalent. Education may be substituted with equivalent experience.

Education
Bachelors or better in Engineering or related field.
